LAB DAY 1: GUMMY BEAR OSMOSIS
Diffusiond: is the equilibrium of two substances in the same conteiner.
Osmosis: Diffusion of water molecules in and out of a cell (surrounded by a membrane that only allows water through).
There are three types of osmosis:
- Isotonic: equal concentration .
- Hypertonic: more concentration.
- Hipotonic: less concentration.
Experiment: we have put three different gummy bears into water solutions.
- Red: in salt water.
- White: normal water.
- Green: normal water
My hypothesis:
About the water:
- Red: the water is going to get a littel bit red.
- White: the water is going to became sweety.
- Green: the water is going to became sweety.
- Red: Is going to be smaller because the water is hypertonic so it absorves the liquid os the gummy and the gummy wnts smaller and it became less soft.
- Green: I think it is not going to change.
- White: I think it is not going to change.
Results:
- White: Like the water is hipotonic it has gone inside the gummmy bear.
- Red: It has lost water because the salt water absorved allmost all the water of the gummy bear. And it came smaller.
- Green: More or less it is isotonic so it take the same side.
